Next Steps

Secure Your Spot & Finalize Financials:

Accept Offer & Deposit: Formally accept the university's offer of admission and pay the required enrollment deposit by the deadline (usually around May 1st).

Review Financial Aid Package: Carefully examine the official financial aid package sent by the university (based on your FAFSA/CSS Profile). Accept or decline specific components like federal loans or work-study. Understand your net cost.

Seek & Report Scholarships: Actively search and apply for additional institutional scholarships (check departmental websites too) and external scholarships. Report any external scholarships you receive to the university's financial aid office, as this may affect your aid package.

Understand Billing: Familiarize yourself with the university's tuition billing system, payment deadlines, and available payment plan options.

Engage in Orientation & Course Registration:

Register for Orientation: Sign up for the mandatory New Student Orientation session. Note whether it's online, in-person, or hybrid, and the dates. Complete any required pre-orientation modules or placement tests (e.g., for math or language).

Attend Orientation: Participate fully in your orientation session. This is where you'll typically learn about campus resources, academic expectations, meet with an academic advisor, and register for your first-semester classes.

Consider Extended Orientation: Investigate if the university offers optional extended orientation programs (sometimes called welcome camps, bridge programs, or specific cohort programs). These often occur just before or after standard orientation or at the beginning of the semester, offering a deeper dive into campus life or specific support. Decide if participating fits your needs and register if applicable.

Arrange Housing & Complete Pre-Arrival Tasks:

Secure Housing: Apply for on-campus housing by the deadline, submit housing deposits/contracts, and participate in any room/roommate selection processes. If living off-campus, finalize your lease and living arrangements.

Review Assignments: Once assigned, review your on-campus housing assignment and roommate details. Connect with your future roommate(s) to coordinate shared items.

Submit Final Documents: Ensure your final official high school transcript (showing graduation date) and any transcripts for college credits earned elsewhere are sent to the admissions office.

Health Requirements: Submit all required health forms, including proof of mandatory immunizations, by the university's deadline.

Prepare for Arrival & Move-In:

Check Move-In Details: Review the specific move-in schedule, procedures, driving/parking directions, and any assigned time slots provided by the housing office.

Plan & Pack: Plan your travel to campus. Create a packing list including clothing, toiletries, academic supplies, bedding, room essentials, important documents, and anything coordinated with roommates. Check the university's list of allowed/prohibited items for residence halls.

Move-In Day: Arrive during your designated time. Follow check-in procedures to get your keys and student ID card (if not received earlier). Unpack and set up your room.

Engage in Welcome Activities: Participate in "Welcome Week" or initial campus events designed to help you settle in, meet other students, and learn your way around campus. Attend any extended orientation activities you signed up for.
